One of the sons of Al Qaeda leader Usama Bin Laden, Saad Bin Laden probably died this year in an air strike in Pakistan, according to a source revealed Wednesday that the U.S. fight against terrorism.


"We believe he is dead, although in these cases if you do not have DNA or other evidence can not be taken for sure," the official told CNN. The information available to Washington given by Saad Bin Laden died in an air strike by an unmanned U.S. aircraft.


The terrorist leader's son apparently was not a key element in the structure of the Islamist network. Shortly after the U.S. invasion in Afghanistan, carried out in 2001, Saad fled the country to go to Iran, where he remained for several years under house arrest. Subsequently, the United States stood hidden in the border regions between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
